Hotels Near Fenway Park - The List

The Lenox Hotel
With the Boston Marathon starting on its doorstep each April, The Lenox Hotel Boston is one of the more familiar of the many hotels near Fenway Park. We have it on good report that it's also one of the more affordable Boston luxury hotels. There's seldom a negative word spoken about this boutique Boston establishment. The rooms are nothing short of exquisite by all accounts, though not geared toward junior guests.

If it's "just the two of you", it seems hard to argue with the hotel's claim that it's situated on "simply the best location in Boston". It's one block back from Copley Square and the stunning Trinity Church, as well as from the something-for-everyone attractions of Newbury Street.

There are multiple world-class shopping options within a five-minute walk in practically any direction. Plus, the vast majority of Boston attractions you're looking to see are a short walk away or within a few T-stops. Boston Symphony Hall and the famous Boston Pops are nearby, along with the Boston Ballet and numerous other entertainment attractions.

Hotel Commonwealth
Another option that's popped up as a favorite among our contacts is Hotel Commonwealth. True, it's half a mile further away from the majority of the major tourist locations; But being only two blocks away from the Green Monster (with some of its rooms looking right out onto the back of it), this wins the title for hotels near Fenway Park.

Hotel Commonwealth Boston

Of course, your outings to all other attractions will still be incredibly easy, as the Kenmore Square T-stop is literally underneath the hotel (don't worry... you won't hear it!). If you're up for the exercise then a 20-minute walk will get you to Boston Common. As far as the accommodation goes, we've heard rooms are spacious and "extremely adequate."

In addition to the accommodation, the hotel restaurant has served members of our extended family to great satisfaction, and the hotel bar has been recommended to us mutiple times as hands-down, 'the best' post-game option for a drink. In fact, even if you're not drinking, the people-watching is reported to be entertainment enough.

Doubletree Guest Suites Boston
Not a four-star, but not quite a three-star either, Doubletree is not only a family friendly hotel, but also kind to the vacation budget. Our friends loved that the entire hotel is non-smoking.

Part of the "Hilton family", the only real downside is the extra three miles away from most of the main tourist attractions. It's on the Charles River towards Cambridge (on the Boston side of the Charles). To make the location seem more like a welcome relief, the hotel provides a shuttle bus to Downtown Boston and Harvard Square for free. The shuttle stops at locations that will make it quite easy to plan your sightseeing days. If you're not the "free shuttle bus" type, then a cab will get you most places you'll want to go for $15 tops.

Charles River Gondola in Boston

As the hotel is on the riverbank, make sure to ask for a room with river views. Kids are kept busy with video games on-demand and the chocolate chip cookies will kick things off to a fun, glucose-fuelled start.

Holiday Inn Brookline
In addition to its location, The Holiday Inn Brookline had to be included for personal reasons. It was not only where my mom and stepdad got married... it was where I had my 'Sweet 16' birthday party (only slightly embarassing to think back to ;-).

I grew up in the area, and getting to Red Sox games was super easy from here. The walk to Fenway Park from the Holiday Inn is almost exactly one mile. But we generally went "the lazy man's option" and took the T. From the hotel's front door, you just cross the street and hop on the Green Line 'C' Trolley stop, which will take you to within shouting distance of the dugout.

With such proximity, this is a super-convenient and lower cost option among hotels near Fenway Park. There is a free shuttle service offered by the hotel, but destinations are mostly limited to the nearby specialist medical institutions. If you're looking to maximise your value for hotel dollar, check out the hotel's early bird specials and the occasional package deals, such as their holiday shopping package.

Courtyard by Marriot Brookline
Being only a short walk from the old family home, The Courtyard at Brookline was one of the places we had friends and family stay when visiting. It's also in the thick of Coolidge Corner, a favorite shopping area among Boston locals. It's a six (short) block walk to JFK's birthplace and early childhod home (83 Beals Street, Brookline, a National Historic site and museum). It's less than one mile from the Longwood Medical area, and still close enough to be counted among hotels near Fenway Park.

Transportation to downtown and the central attractions is convenient, using the Green Line 'Coolidge Corner'. The Puppet Showplace Theater is nearby (32 Station Street, Brookline), and is the oldest (and many would say best) puppet show in New England. Having said that, room layout and hotel amenities aren't really aimed towards kids.

Boston Hotel Buckminster
Note: The Boston Hotel Buckminster is included on our B&B page in addition to Hotels Near Fenway Park.
Sitting somewhere in the middle on the Boston B&B pricing scale, the Boston Hotel Buckminster will appeal to most tourists. With a quirky feel to it, and somewhat of an architectural study in itself, the amenities are quite adequate and the breakfast has been described as "fine for a continental!"

You'll find even more appeal if you're touring with kids or pets (see kid and pet friendly Boston hotels). The Kenmore Sqaure location is little more than half a mile to Fenway Park, and pitches you at the southern end of fabulous Newbury Street.
